In order to maintain an active data session, i used crontab to ping an IP every 15 minutes, and this has worked. The data session does not need to be restarted (for the most part). BUT..
After about 30 seconds of inactivity i can not ping the modems IP from an outside connection, i get a “request timeout”. This is until i actively start making data request originating from the modem… once i start making request, the ping request coming from the outside world become successful.
This seems like some sort of sleep mode to me. How can i make it so the modem is always listening to the internet?
In my application, i will be sending data to the modem to be read by a device on its Ethernet port, which i have already configured. Right now, after those 30 seconds, im afraid thats not possible.
