    Hi

I’m trying to sync the modem RTC for a MTCDP-H5 at startup to the network time.

The command AT#NITZ? returns #NITZ: 7,0 but when I restart the device, issuing AT+CCLK? only returns the length of time the device has been switched on.

(all of this has been done thru Minicom)

Any ideas would be much appreciated

    Hi Terry,

Here are a couple of suggestions:

After setting #NITZ=7, save it to memory with &W.

Also, keep in mind that the cellular radio needs to receive a NITZ frame with the ‘Universal time and local time zone’ field populated before it can update the RTC. The network controls when NITZ frames are sent and which fields are populated within the NITZ frame.

In the US, the carriers appear to always send a NITZ frame about the time the radio registers on the network, and then periodically (~ once an hour or so) after that.

    Hi Lonny

Thanks for the reply. I tried what you’ve suggested but it’s made no difference – the RTC is still not being set off the network.

(We’re using Vodafone in the UK which I believe supports NITZ)
