I’m reviewing the FF840 and FF240-IP-2 for possible use by our customers in our receive-only faxing module, but I need some information before we can proceed further:

    1. The Multitech.com states that these fax servers can receive faxes and save them as tiff files to a network location, which is ideal for our purposes. However, we would need some mechanism of recording and retrieving the sender ID sent by the sending fax machine, and it’s not clear from the website whether this information is available.

    2. How do Multitech modems deal with line noise issues? Do page resends within the fax session lead to duplicate pages in the received Tiff files?

    3. The FF240-IP-2 has a note that it is “Field upgradeable to 8-channels”. Is there an extra charge for this? If so, how much? Does the upgrade need to be done by someone from Multitech, or is it just a firmware upgrade that anyone can do.

    4. Our application typically requires 16-24 incoming lines. Is it possible to link several of these fax servers together and manage them as one device?

    Hello Wade

    1) Inbound faxes that are received by the FaxFinder and sent to a network share are in a format that provides…

    direction (inbound)/recipient (name)/number (dialed)/date stamp/time stamp/sequened receive number/

To see the sender ID, the fax (Tif) would need to be opened.

    2) Multi-Tech has been manufacturing fax modems for over 25 years, our modems handle line noise very well within defined specifications. Page resends will not result in duplicate pages received.

    3) Yes, the units are field upgradable from two to eight ports in two port increments. Yes, there is charge to upgrade. FF240-IP-UPGRADE-2 MSRP $800 USD.

    4) It is possible to duplicate the settings in multiple FaxFinders to acheive 16-24 incoming lines, however each device would need to managed seperately.

    -Best Regards
