Multi-Tech’s CDP Deployment Options

Bring your Project from Proof-of-Concept to the Marketplace with Multi-Tech’s CDP Deployment Options

3 Models Offer Flexibility Needed for Any Deployment Scenario

A significant benefit to developing with Multi-Tech Systems’ Cellular Development Platform (CDP) is the ability to embed software onto field-proven, application-ready hardware to quickly create an end-user solution with data communications capability. Developers who complete the proof-of-concept stage with the CDP can quickly bring their solutions to market one of three ways, as discussed below. The choice that best fits a company’s need will depend upon how the following questions are answered.

CDP Support Services

Offered at affordable rates, CDP Support Services provide advanced developer support related to platform design. Available in 5 and 25 hour increments, services range from a design review to application design assistance, and everything in between.

  • How many units does the business expect to need for each deployment?
  • Does the business have the infrastructure to stage a device with the required firmware?
  • Will the device be bundled with other hardware systems or will it be a standalone product?
  • If it will be a standalone product, how does the business plan on branding the device?
  • Does the device require an overlay branded with the company’s logo?
  • Does the device require a custom chassis?

As these questions suggest, planning a product launch can involve many different considerations. To help simplify planning, Multi-Tech has structured three deployment options: Standard, Modified, and Customized. These models make some general assumptions about deployment quantities and branding requirements; your Multi-Tech account manager will work with you to identify the deployment model that best fits your needs.

Standard Deployment Model
The Standard Deployment Model provides the simplest means of bringing a product to market. Once a company’s application is running on the Cellular Development Platform, the business orders Multi-Tech System deployment devices, which contain a standard overlay and chassis, and installs its own firmware.

As a general rule, the Standard Deployment Model is suitable for single deployments of 100 units or less, which might result in deploying roughly 1,000 units throughout a year. Companies can consider using this model for pilot projects before a full rollout is ready. If branding is important, consider the Modified or Customized options.

Modified Deployment Model
The Modified Deployment Model is ideal for businesses with high-quantity deployments or branding requirements. In this model, the company provides its firmware image to Multi-Tech for pre-installation on a device. Having Multi-Tech complete this step allows for the flexibility to create custom overlays and make modifications to the device chassis at the same time and in one facility. Your Multi-Tech account manager can identify the various branding options and provide pricing.

As a general rule, the Modified Deployment Model is a good fit for single deployments of 100 units or greater, up to approximately 2,500 units across an entire year.

Customized Deployment Model
The Custom Deployment Model is the best fit for businesses requiring specialized hardware. For example, a company may contract Multi-Tech to provide hardware with additional functionality that is not provided on standard Multi-Tech products. The company could also ask to remove capabilities from the standard model as a means to reduce costs. Your Multi-Tech account manager will work with you to identify the project scope and provide pricing options.

As a general rule, the Customized Deployment Model is the best choice for business deploying 5,000 units a year or more.

These models cover most deployment considerations, but we recognize that each deployment is unique. Multi-Tech Systems will work with you to help ensure the Cellular Development Platform meets your unique project goals.
