ParticipantHey all,
I have a question for the MTS dragonfly module. It’s for a school project.
I want to connect 1 analog input and send the collected data over 3G network.
I already have the MTS dragonfly but the developer board (MTUDK2-ST-CELL) is a little expensive to use it just once.
Is it posible to do this without buiing the MTUDK2-ST-CELL board?thanks

ParticipantHi Steve,
It’s a graduating project for me and a friend, we are Master students at the University of Hasselt (Belgium).
We have to measure the fill level of a tank every 5 minutes and send it to a web server to collect the data in a database and show it on a website or app. The tanks are most frequently used on festivals such as Pukkelpop, Tomorrowland and Werchter. At the festivals the toilets are connected to a couple of those tanks. the data is used to predict at what time te tank will be full, so the company can empty them. In special cases (for example: when the tank is 90% filled and the level is still rising) the module have to send an SMS as well.
We already got a dragonfly and an ultrasonic sensor with analog output to do the measurement
I hope this helps you if u have any more questions feel free to ask.
(sorry if the Englisch isn’t 100% correct. It’s not my native language)Best Regards

ModeratorHi Robin
Thank you for your feedback.
Yes, you do need a Developer Board.
Otherwise you’d need to develop your own that has the 40-pin receptacle to
plug-in the Dragonfly into.In support of your project I would be willing to lend you one.
That is with the understanding you will ship it back to me at some time.
If interested, please contact me at SalesEngineers@multitech.com-Best Regards

Participanthey all,
A couple months have passed and we bought a developer board for prototyping.
After prototyping the product will be used as a full product so we are going to develop our own board with the 40 pin receptacle.
We still have a few questions on that. What voltage can the dragonfly handle on an analog input with the developer board?
What voltage can the dragonfly handle on an analog input directly on the dragonfly?
Is there a library for the 40- pin connector to use in a electronic drawing program? preferably so we can import it into eagle.Best regards

ModeratorHi Robin,
With or without the developer board… Some pins are 5v tolerant but the analog reference voltage is 3v. So if you to connect voltages that range beyond 3v, a voltage divider is recommended.
I’ll check with out CAD group on the connector.

ModeratorHi Robin,
I’m told we do not have a library import available for the 40 pin part.
