Geolocation

just wondering if anyone has done an implementation of geolocation with multitech gateways (mlinux). If the gateway can tell me to approximate distance of a node? I know I can use gps in the nodes, but I want to know if anyone has been able to do this with the gateway.
My plan is to use 3 gateways to triangulate the coordinates
