Hi Joe,
Did updating to the 5.0.5.8 version help with the vulnerability found? If not let me know and I’ll add it as a firmware request.
Mike GaddaBlockedHave you seen our example code found here?

October 26, 2016 at 4:44 pm in reply to: Preprocessing error (unable to convert file 'cells.ps') #15148Mike GaddaBlockedHi Scott, Which model of Faxfinder do you have and do you have it updated to the latest firmware? That’s a good place to start in eliminating preprocessing errors. If there are particular documents still causing errors and you are running updated firmware you can open a case in the support portal and attach file(s) it has problems with. Then we can look at these and investigate why it is failing.
Mike GaddaBlockedHi Dell,
Regarding the client, there are some options for these. For the refresh timer go to Manage General Configuration and find the option Auto-Refresh interval.
There are MSI installation options to minimize user interaction:
To install FFClient from the command line, type the following command in the console:
msiexec /i FFClient-x64-3.1.1.X.msi SERVER=hostname_or_IPaddress SSL=true_or_false USER=username PASSWORD=password
The following parameters can be used:
• /quiet – no user interaction is required, no UI is shown to the user
• /passive – no user interaction is required, the progress bar is displayed
• /l filename.txt – this parameter logs the process into the file that user specifiesAlthough the Contacts can’t currently be edited on the fly when sending, they can be edited within the client under Contacts. Click on the edit icon for the contact you need to edit.
Mike GaddaBlockedIf it is an FFx30 or FFx40 series then you can route by line by going to Fax Configuration, Inbound Routing, Lines. For each line set destination(s) by clicking the Edit icon on the right. Also make sure under Fax Configuration, Modems, that the routing mode is set to POTS line for each modem accordingly.
Mike GaddaBlockedHi Eric,
Which model of Faxfinder do you have? Are you wanting to route by Caller ID or are you wanting faxes to route on which port/line they came in on?
Mike GaddaBlockedWhen syncing to AD, those user parameters such as the cover page need to be adjusted on the AD side using ADSI Edit in example..
Mike GaddaBlockedLooking into this further I have found a possible workaround:
When sending an SMS of more than 160 Characters, the user gets multiple messages. What can be done so that only one message is sent to client?
Try the following:upgrade to v1.51.28,
Link:
https://webfiles.multitech.com/engineering/unofficial-releases/iSMS%20(Formerly%20SMSFinder)/Firmware/SF100/1.51.28/once upgraded:
enable “Enable PDU Mode” and “Concatenate Multipart Outbound Messages” in the SMS Settings menu.
Mike GaddaBlockedThe SMS standard limit is 160 characters so what you are seeing is normal. The SF100-g won’t be able to merge this into a single text due to the standard it follows, but the receiving side may be able to reconstruct the text back to the original using the tags (1of7..etc).
Mike GaddaBlockedIf you want the field to show the total pages including the cover page then you’ll need to change the field used to pages_with_cover instead of pages_without_cover. This is done using Acrobat Pro and we have a guide for this in the following directory:
Mike GaddaBlockedMake sure you are updated to the latest 3.5.2 server firmware and 3.1.0 client as there were issues in older versions with the files on the Faxfinder not being in sync with the client. Older versions would not always follow the fax purge settings as listed under the Fax Configuration, Fax Log page. Once you are updated to 3.5.2 be sure that the setting of “Only purge log entries older than” is set to the number of days you want faxes to be saved.
Mike GaddaBlockedHi Brenda,
The following responses are assuming you are using an FFx40 Faxfinder model.
1. You can edit the user options to choose “print fax receipt” and select the printer. Then make sure you are logged in with that user in the client.
2. Currently there isn’t a direct print option, but this could be made into a feature request for future update consideration.
Mike GaddaBlockedNote: On the last registry folder to delete you may need to search on ff110.exe instead of Faxfinder.
Mike GaddaBlockedHi Jason,
You could try a manual uninstall of the 2.2.3 version first.
1: Delete the Multi-tech Systems/FaxFinder Client Software folder of the Program Files directory
2: Delete the FaxFinder Client Software Folder of the %appdata% directory.
3: Delete the Registry Entries with Run->regedit
– HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Multi-Tech Systems/FaxFinder Client Software (Delete the whole folder)
– HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Multi-Tech Systems/FaxFinder Client Software (Delete the whole folder)
– HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Black Ice Software LLC/Multi-Tech FaxFinder (Delete the whole folder)
– HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Installer/Products/HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\F1398B92A8241B44CA5E5A7E40466D65 (Delete the whole folder) (this maybe named something different, if so click on the my computer at the top, click Edit->Find and type FaxFinder in the box and the first result should be in this folder)Mike GaddaBlockedIf you open up a case in our support portal you can attach an example file and we can have a look at it to see if we can duplicate the problem. https://support.multitech.com
There is a known issue sending when using Acrobat 11, but using the latest 3.1.0 client should fix that provided you have an FFx30/x40 model. This known issue involves text getting changed to garbage characters when the fax goes out. Getting a preprocessing error may a be different issue such as not being able to convert a certain font to the faxable TIFF format.
Mike GaddaBlockedMy experience with 2.3.1 has been stable so far.. I’m not aware of issues with it.
Mike GaddaBlockedAre you always using a specific cover page for sending out? The FF230 may be having an issue with that…if it is corrupted in example. There is a resolution on clearing the outbound fax queue here:
http://www.multitech.com/support/resolutionid/5023104#gsc.tab=0
There have been firmware updates also that may help. The current version for the FF230 is 2.3.1 and can be downloaded here:
https://webfiles.multitech.com/engineering/unofficial-releases/FaxFinder/FFX30/Firmware/FFx30_2.3.1/
Mike GaddaBlockedThat is a known issue on the FFx30 where it doesn’t use the detected user cover page so the advanced T.37 cover page option would be needed in that case. Engineering indicated to me that on the FFx40s it does use the detected user’s default cover page with the latest firmware 3.3.8.
Mike GaddaBlockedHere are some features added in the FFx40s:
New web GUI
Added option to save fax logs to a share
Added SFTP as an option for inbound routing
Added support for more printers
Added new API calls
Active Directory
Added ability to customize text and image on home page
New web help
Added changeable defaults for web send
Added SNMP
Added ability to customize filename of incoming fax
Added ability to customize email “From” and “Subject” for inbound faxes
Added ability to upload CA signed certificates
Added ability to print outgoing fax receipts and fax logs
Added ability to configure “date” filed on cover pages
Added ability for users to view all fax logs
Added ability to save incoming faxes as TIFF G4
Added ability to select the storage of outbound faxes
Added Caller ID support
Route by caller ID information and use in customizing filename/subject..ie
Added dialing rules
Online UpdatingMike GaddaBlockedOur newer FFx40 series supports fax confirmation to printer, but not the FFx30 series. There isn’t a way to move the advanced features ahead of the “fax=” I believe by the T.37 specification it needs to start with that.
Mike GaddaBlockedThe Faxfinder does system maintenance by overwriting the oldest faxes/logs. You can set when to purge/email the logs if you want that done on a particular time interval.
Mike GaddaBlockedCurrently the only expansion that can be done to the FF440 is adding an expansion module for more ports via the USB connections. The Faxfinder is designed to be able to run continuously.
There is a chart on the following link that can be used as a guideline for faxes sent:
http://www.multitech.co.uk/en_US/DOCUMENTS/Families/FaxFinder/comparisons.aspx
Mike GaddaBlockedIf you don’t have all ports connected then go into the web interface Modem config page and set the ports not connected to the direction of Inbound Only. That way if all connected ports are in use, the faxed will be queued until a line is available.
Mike GaddaBlockedIf ports are busy and new faxes are scheduled it will use other available ports that are set for the outbound or both directions.
Mike GaddaBlockedHi Binh,
There is some sample code here:
https://webfiles.multitech.com/engineering/sample-code/fax-finder/
Mike GaddaBlockedThe syntax for rescheduling can be found here:
Mike GaddaBlockedAcrobat Pro is suggested for our Faxfinder models that support PDF cover pages (FFx30/x40). Here is an example setup link:
Older models FFx00/x10/x20 use the CPG format cover pages made by the cover page editor installed with the client.
August 15, 2014 at 8:34 am in reply to: FF820 FaxFinder – does all faxfinder models have webservices built in. #5973Mike GaddaBlockedThe newer FFx30 and FFx40 models have the web API. Older models such as the FF820 do not. There is an automated send method with the older models using the client and details on that can be found in a PDF document here:
https://webfiles.multitech.com/faxfinder/inhouse/FaxFinder%20Client%20API/
Mike GaddaBlockedHi Chanda,
Testing here with newer firmware we aren’t seeing the issue. What model of Faxfinder and firmware version are you using? What type of attachments? Thanks.
Mike GaddaBlockedThe restriction you are seeing has been reported before for T.37 mode. There is also a known problem where the fax will fail when the subject is over 50 characters.
