Public vs Private network

Hi team,

This is an extremely novice question, but what are the differences between setting up the conduit as a public or private network?

I understand the difference between OTA (OTAA) and Manual (APB) join methods, but can’t seem to fully understand the difference between public and private. Specially when it comes to security.

If I implement OTA join, what difference does it make if the network is private or public?
