Hi
I was sourcing the chip antenna for the xDot and noticed a discrepancy.
On the xDot developer guide, it says that the chip antenna that the module was certified with, Etheronics M620720, has a peak gain of 2.56 dBi. The linked datasheet for that antenna dated 2016 also specifies the same (https://www.ethertronics.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/M620720-ISM-868-915MHz-Ethertronics-Savvi-Ceramic-antenna-datasheet-20161020.pdf).
However, the latest datasheet for M620720 dated 2018 from the Ethertronics website states a peak gain of 0.75 dBi (http://datasheets.avx.com/ethertronics/AVX-E_M620720.pdf)
Any idea what’s going on here? Are they still the same antenna? Is there actually a performance difference or was there a documentation error? Will this affect module certification when used with that antenna?
Thanks
-Tony
This is supposed to be the same part. It looks like there are slightly different dimensions for the layout example. Since the gain is lower, the certifications should still be valid.
I see. Any idea if this means that I will have reduced range in comparison to the dev kit? In other words, is the dev kit built with the 2.56dbi version and I’m getting the 0.75dbi version?
Thanks
