I was wondering if it was possible to run the REST calls provided for the r100 MTR from an outside IP address. If I’m hooked up to the router I can make the REST calls just fine with the local ip (192.168.2.1), but I need to be able to access those calls from a different computer that is not connected to the router.
I’ve tried so many different things with the router’s Firewall and Trusted IPs, but no matter what I do – even simply pinging the routers IP – returns either an error or a request timeout.
The router’s mask was set to 255.255.255.255 originally so I tried changing it to 255.255.255.0, but since the IP is dynamic, there is little point to a mask.
I’m new to this hardware and networking in general, so please excuse my ignorance.
Hello,
Yes, the MTR does allow external API calls with a Public SIM.
What firmware version you are using?
What Carrier are you using?
What are the digits of the first octet of your dynamic IP?
Do you have HTTPS Via WAN enabled under Access Configuration?
For external pinging you would need to enable ICMP Respond to WAN under Access Configuration.
Keep in mind, both these procedures will accrue data on your cellular account.
Regards,
Mike
