    Hello,

We have conected an external modem via RS232 with a DB9 cable (male-male) to the MultiTech E1 serial port.

We have read that this port is /dev/ttyS2 but when we try to execute microcom /dev/ttyS2 we have no response.

Are we doing something wrong or it’s not possible to make this connection?

    Regards,

    Hi Mariano,

Is your DB9 cable a ‘straight’ cable or a crossover (sometimes called null modem) cable ?

The serial port on the CDP is configured as a DCE interface, so you will need a null modem cable to connect to another DCE device like a modem.

OK! Thank 4 the info, i guess it’s a ‘straight’ cable.
