    Hey everybody,

we have a couple of Conduits in the field. We plan to equip these with GDSP SIMs (https://www.vodacombusiness.co.za/business/solutions/data-storage-and-tracking/global-data-service-platform) to maintain them remotely.

Let’s say we want to upgrade the mLinux firmware of our Gateways by flashing. The problem is that after the flashing process our network interface configurations would be lost and consequently the remote access is disabled. We would have to stop by every single Gateway to reconfigure them again by hand.

Are there any better solutions to this? We are looking for “best practices” here to upgrade the firmware but keep at least some of the configurations in place. Maybe you guys can point me towards the right direction. Any help is appreciated.

    Kind regards,

    Joseph

The /var/config and /var/oem partitions will remain intact during firmware upgrade. Any configuration or data you wish to maintain across upgrades will need to be stored there.
